Today, I left my daughter with my boyfriend for the first time without a second thought or hesitation and for the seventh time overall. I have always had so much anxiety about leaving her with people. Except on one occasion that turned out to be a disaster for me though it was only for about three hours, Evelyn has only been watched by family (i.e. her grandmothers, or my sisters) or two of my closest friends (who either have children or work in childcare). So, today was a milestone day in a very subtle way. As I drove off and realized this, my second thought was, “he’s right, we’re family now.” And that was special enough to want to document.
Also, Evelyn did a perfect dive into the pool today after two weeks of practicing. She’s a daredevil, but something about diving headfirst into the deep end can scare anyone, even with floaties.
