Last-Minute Trip to San Diego

I had a restless feeling so I surprised my boyfriend with a spontaneous overnight trip to San Diego. We haven’t really had the opportunity to get away so I made one and I’m so glad I did.

I’ve long heard the notion that one of the big steps to take as a couple is to take a trip together, but we never have and I had been dreading the pressure of planning something that could never live up to my wild expectations of a movie-style romantic getaway. So I made sure my boyfriend was free for the weekend on Saturday morning and we were on the road 4 hours later. Great decision.

We didn’t have any itinerary but minus the grumpy, hungry mood we were in at our arrival (unforeseen traffic), our spontaneity didn’t cause any problems. We checked in, Yelped a dinner spot and had a lovely evening.

Finding a breakfast spot wasn’t as seamless, but it gave us an opportunity to explore and Lalo was able to show me his favorite parts of Coronado. That inspired us to stop at all the beach cities back up to Orange County. We did some thrift shopping in Pacific Beach, visited the Veteran’s memorial at Mt. Soledad, admired all the shops on Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach, and hunted for dream houses in La Jolla, Del Mar and Carlsbad before we had coffee at Oceanside Harbor.

It wasn’t too much and it wasn’t too little. We made it home in time for pizza and The Walking Dead with time to spare to prepare for the week.
